1973 Norton Commando , 1973 Norton 850 Commando. This Candy apple Red Norton 850 Commando with matching numbers is an unmolested classic with 570 miles since restoration. During the initial restoration the engine was stripped down and rebuilt replacing all roller bearings. The engine was in fine condition and the compression was excellent. The gear box was rebuilt with new bushes and seals. The crank was evaluated by a local engine machining shop and the recommendation was that no work was required. I purchased the bike in 1999. Plated it in 2003 and it has been in storage since 2005.It has been started from time to time. I pulled the bike out of storage and proceeded to further restore it. While focusing on keeping it close to stock I did install a Pazon Sure Fire electronic ignition with the modified control module. This modified module makes for a much easier starting cycle. A made in America Miles Classic wet sump Check Valve and Oil Pressure Gauge have been installed. A brand new battery was fitted. Engine starts 2-3 kicks. Clutch, brakes, lights and gauges all work good. Gauges were rebuilt in the States. Where practical I have introduced stainless steel nuts, washers and bolts. This is an absolutely beautiful bike, the twin carburetors have been totally rebuilt with bronze sleeves on the slides. The Kick Start Lever is Original Norton new old stock from England and is well clear of the exhaust when starting the bike. Stainless steel spokes on back and front wheels and the front rotor has been drilled to further improve braking. The tires have new tubes installed and hold air but the new owner may want to change them to his choice although they still look good. No dings or scratches. The bike is mostly original stock. You will be impressed with this restored classic; the pictures don't do the bike justice. Retired and this restoration was a labor of love with no time pressure to get it finished. Buyer is responsible for all costs regarding pickup and/or delivery of motorcycle. No Dreamers Please.
