2004 Buell LIGHTNING XB12S

This is a one of a kind 04 XB12s Lightning. Well maintained, oil changed annually (last one was in October '16). Always stored indoors during the winter and avoided riding it in the rain. You will never see one quite like it and I am always getting complements. The frame holds the fuel to lower the center of gravity, the engine oil is in the swing arm, and it has one massive front brake disc, and has a ton of torque ... American ingenuity at its best! The design is still being used today in new EBR motorcycles. It was recently at the Harley dealer for a "tune up" (replaced: brake fluid, plugs, throttle position sensor, timing sensor, and front tire). The back tire has less than 1k on it (rear bearings replaced at the same time). Both tires are Michelin Pilot Road 2s. Selling my 2003 Buell XB9S with just over 9,000 miles and counting because I'm still riding it to work a few days a week. Great bike mechanically, LOUD aftermarket Jardine RT-1 pipe, tires have 80% tread (new this spring), rear fender eliminator kit, carbon fiber vinyl on tank and windscreen, bar end mirrors, oil changed 500 miles ago, and selling with new filter and oil for next oil change, primary oil also changed. This bike is pretty quick qnd excellent in the twisties. LOTS of torque! Oil is in swing arm, fuel is in frame, quite a unique design by racing legend Erik Buell. I just dont have time to ride as much as i use to. Won't find one of this year with fewer miles for this price. Just go search and see for yourself. If you've been looking for an unmolested 1996-1998 Buell S1 Lightning that has plenty of life left, you've found it. These are getting harder to find. There were only 5000 made during those three years. This one is billet metallic and even more rare. More and more, when you do find these, they've been chopped or have had some silly mods done to them. Back story: I'm the third owner. The guy I purchased the bike from is a master mechanic who worked at Harley Davidson for years. He said that he purchased it from an older guy who used it to tool around the back roads. The top end of the motor was completely rebuilt by the previous owner, to include new pistons and rings. It has the Vance and Hines SSR2 muffler. The carburetor has a DynoJet kit, and the motor was dyno tuned. It runs very strong. The previous owner says it runs better and stronger than when it was stock. He is right. It leaks no oil, nor uses any. Condition: It's an 18 year old bike. It has nicks and scratches on par with a bike its age; however, it's obvious that it was well cared for. The clutch is strong and it shifts with no problems. Finding neutral can be an issue with these transmissions, but this one doesn't seem to have that problem. The bike is light and has lots of torque, which makes for a fun combination. The exhaust is loud, but is not crazy loud. I recently rode with a group of guys and some behind be were making comments like, "THAT BIKE SOUNDS AWESOME!" and "THAT EXHAUST NOTE!". It certainly gets a lot of attention and respect. It's a conversation starter at gas stations. The tires have life left. the brakes have life, don't squeak, and are nice and responsive. Everything works: Horn, hi-beam, etc. The swingarm has paint chips on the inside from the fender being removed, but nothing that is visible from afar or has any impact on performance. I hate to let it go, but I'm at a point in my life where I don't have time for it.
